OEC Academia
Many academic-related projects and events such as SAT Classes, Inter-school Debate competitions, OEC talks, etc., have been conducted under the umbrella of Academia since 2012. This year OEC aims to add another two-week-long dynamic project to utilize the organizations’ diverse volunteer resource to groom the life skills and interpersonal skills of school-going children.
Beyond the classrooms
Under the project “Beyond the Classrooms” (BTC), the volunteers from across the region would get the opportunity to visit and live in other remote areas to conduct interactive sessions with students in different schools. Moreover, they would also assist the teachers in grooming the students to help them be equipped with the stock in trade for the practical world. This project would promote the significance of proper guidance to students and the need for experiment-based learning to allow the students to steer their way through school and have clear basic concepts of the subjects they are being taught.
Project objectives
- To work on the students’ personality skills such as good communication skills, confidence building, presentation skills, and other soft skills that are required in terms of successful career building
- To educate students about the emerging fields in the contemporary world and to communicate to them the importance of quality education for a better tomorrow.
- To infuse in students a sense of prioritization and goal setting at a young age to help them in becoming efficient youth.
- To inculcate in them a true sense of civic responsibility and active citizenship
- To provide an opportunity for the OEC volunteers to groom their professional skills and develop a sense of self-responsibility, flexibility, and gratitude.
Mock Test
Considering the new normal set by the global pandemic, the team academia came up with the idea of conducting online mock-tests for university entrance test practice. The team successfully conducted three online tests; IBA the test, MCAT & NED, and LAT. Zoom sessions were also arranged for proper guidance.

Intros of newly introduced projects
Mock Tests: Keeping in mind the need for virtual engagement during pandemic and season of entrance tests, OEC introduced mock tests for high school graduates. Mock tests are practice tests that prepare students for aptitude tests. And give them the space to understand entrance test patterns based on syllabuses and past papers. Students also got the opportunity to get counseling from university enrollment and alumni.
BTC: Beyond the Classrooms- a voluntarily teaching-based program.
“Beyond the Classrooms’ is a voluntarily teaching-based program. Content of the program has to be implemented in secondary and high schools of Gilgit Baltistan and Chitral. Students will be engaged in academic and soft skill-based curriculum modules during the 2-week program.
