Apart from academic excellence, students of GB have always shown significant performance in Co-Curricular activities. Female students from GB in particular, have been remarkable in debate competitions held at both regional and national level. The 15th All Pakistan Inter University Debate Competition for Allama Iqbal Shield was held by HEC on December 19, 2012 at International Islamic University Islamabad. The topic for the English debate was “only democracy can ensure a peaceful and prosperous Pakistan”. More than 60 students from different universities of Pakistan participated in this competition. Miss Shaheen Akhtar, Miss Shehnaz Gul, Mr. Umar Hayat and Mr. Jamal Saeed represented Karakoram International University ( KIU ), Gilgit.

The contestants from GB remained brilliant throughout the competition and Shaheen Akhar was declared as third position holder for the contest.
